Background

Forest View Acute, a medical centre located in Treochy, serves a community of 16,000 patients. To ensure the safety and security of their patients and staff, Forest View Acute engaged H3 Group to take over and upgrade their intruder alarm system.

Objectives

The primary objectives of the takeover were:

1. Installation of a New Texecom Premier 48 Panel.
2. Optimization of PIRs: Ensuring all 18 Passive Infrared Sensors (PIRs) on site were functioning optimally.
3. Integration with South Wales Police: Facilitating a direct link between the intruder alarm system and local law enforcement for rapid response.
4. Installation of Dualcom Pro Grade DP3 Dual Path Signalling: Providing reliable alarm communication with primary path over broadband and secondary path over the mobile network, along with 12 months of monitoring and maintenance.

Implementation

Upon taking over the intruder alarm system, H3 Group undertook the following steps:

1. Installation of the Texecom Premier 48 Panel:
   • A new Texecom Premier 48 panel was installed to replace the outdated system, providing enhanced security features and reliability.
2. Assessment and Optimization of PIRs:
   • Each of the 18 PIRs on site was thoroughly tested. It was discovered that some sensors were not working optimally.
   • The customer was promptly informed about the non-functional PIRs, and a plan was put in place to replace them, ensuring no gaps in the security coverage.
3. Integration with South Wales Police:
   • The intruder alarm system was successfully linked with South Wales Police, ensuring immediate notification and response in case of a security breach.
4. Installation of Dualcom Pro Grade DP3 Dual Path Signalling:
   • The Dualcom Pro Grade DP3 system was installed, providing dual path signalling with primary path over broadband and secondary path over the mobile network. This setup ensures reliable communication of alarm signals.
   • H3 Group also provided 12 months of monitoring and maintenance to ensure the system’s ongoing reliability and performance.

Challenges and Solutions

• Non-Functional PIRs: During the assessment, several PIRs were found to be malfunctioning. H3 Group communicated this issue to Forest View Acute and scheduled replacements to ensure the system’s integrity.
• System Integration: Linking the new alarm system with South Wales Police required meticulous planning and coordination to ensure seamless communication and response.

The successful takeover and upgrade of the intruder alarm system at Forest View Acute resulted in:
