H3 Group and Day’s Motor Group
H3 Group and Day’s Motor Group : A Swansea Partnership Delivering Safety Across 20+ Sites in England & Wales
Day’s Motor Group, one of Swansea’s most established and successful automotive businesses, has expanded significantly over the years, now operating over 20 locations across Wales and England. With this growth came the need for a complete modernisation of their fire safety and intruder alarm infrastructure across dealerships, rental centres, workshops, garages, and bodyshops.
Proudly supporting local business, Day’s selected H3 Group, another Swansea-based company, to undertake this large-scale upgrade programme. By choosing a local partner with national reach, Day’s benefited from closer communication, faster response times, and a shared commitment to supporting South Wales industry.
The Project
Multi‑Site Fire & Security Upgrade.
After a competitive tender process, H3 Group were appointed to design and install bespoke fire safety and intruder alarm systems across Day’s diverse portfolio of sites.
The project included:
- 11 initial sites, followed by
- 10 additional locations after the successful first phase
- Works spanning South Wales, North Wales, Watford, Eastleigh, and surrounding regions
Each location had its own operational requirements, so H3 developed tailored systems for:
- Office buildings
- Car dealerships
- Rental depots
- Workshops & vehicle body shops
Our engineering team ensured every system was built to match the unique risks and layout of each site.
Technology & Systems Installed
H3 Group utilised a combination of industry-leading fire and security systems, providing Day’s with modern, compliant and reliable protection:
Fire Safety Systems
- Advanced fire panels
- Zeta fire alarm control panels
- Hochiki detectors
- Apollo detection devices
Intruder Alarm Systems
With stock valued in the millions including rental vehicles, new and used cars, high‑value parts, vehicles under repair, workshops, and the constant flow of staff and customers across multiple sites it became clear that a major security upgrade was essential.
Our initial survey revealed that fewer than 10% of the sites had a functional intruder system capable of providing adequate protection during or after business hours. We immediately began designing and installing tailored security solutions for each location, ensuring every site achieved full, 100% intrusion coverage. This included 24/7 monitoring for rapid emergency response, active intruder deterrence, and full compliance with industry standards.
Each system was built to suit the specific needs of the site, using a combination of wired, wireless, and hybrid Grade 2 and Grade 3 technologies. The transformation has been significant: Days now benefits from complete peace of mind, moving from minimal protection to a robust, round‑the‑clock security network that safeguards their vehicles, parts, employees, and customers.
Delivering the Works
The upgrade programme was delivered over a 12‑month period, starting in February 2025, with H3 engineers travelling across the UK to complete the installation, testing, commissioning and handover of each system.
Despite the scale and geographic spread, every installation was carried out with zero disruption to Day’s Day‑to‑day operations.
Engineering Manager Commentary
“This project pushed our abilities to the limit as we had to travel across the country, creating and installing different systems for different sites. However, it was a thoroughly enjoyable process for the engineers.”
